Our Leaders
Our board isn’t made up of outside observers: these are Jacksonville leaders who have built careers, organizations, and communities here. They bring cross-sector expertise and a shared conviction that Jacksonville’s best chapter is still ahead.
David Miller is a Jacksonville entrepreneur, civic leader, and philanthropist best known as the co-founder and executive chairman of Brightway Insurance, one of the nation’s largest property and casualty insurance agencies. Beyond his business success, Miller is widely recognized for his commitment to community development, education, social justice, and poverty reduction initiatives across Northeast Florida. He has supported organizations including United Way, OneJax, City Year, LiftJax, and the Emerald Trail project, while also serving in leadership roles with numerous civic and nonprofit organizations. In recent years, Miller helped launch the Together Strong Community Fund to combat antisemitism and promote community unity in Jacksonville.
Amy Berg is a Jacksonville civic and philanthropic leader recognized for her work in community engagement, education, and nonprofit leadership. She serves as Vice Chair of the Jacksonville Civic Council Foundation and Chair of the World Affairs Council of Jacksonville, where she helps advance initiatives focused on civic dialogue, global awareness, and the future of Northeast Florida.
Berg is the former President of The Better Angels Society, a nonprofit organization supporting the documentary work of Ken Burns, and previously served as Executive Vice President of Operations and Development at the Aspen Institute. Earlier in her career, she held leadership positions in municipal government and urban planning in Aspen and Santa Barbara, earning recognition for community-centered planning and public administration.
Berg is deeply involved in supporting education, healthcare, the arts, and civic innovation in Jacksonville. She serves on several nonprofit and educational boards and is known for fostering collaboration and long-term community investment throughout the region.
Dennis Whittle is the CEO and president of the Jacksonville Civic Council and a nationally recognized innovator in international development, philanthropy, and civic engagement. He began his career as an economist at the World Bank, where he helped launch the Development Marketplace, an open-source model for funding ideas that reduce poverty and promote economic growth.
Whittle later co-founded and led GlobalGiving, the world’s largest crowdfunding platform for grassroots projects, which has raised more than $1 billion for initiatives in 175 countries. He also co-founded Feedback Labs, focused on citizen feedback in aid and philanthropy, and most recently helped launch Normal Next, an experiential learning platform connecting students with real-world societal challenges.
A Morehead Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Whittle also earned a master’s degree in public administration from Princeton University and has held teaching and research roles at Princeton, UNC, and NYU.
Christian Harden is the Owner and Chief Executive Officer of NAI Hallmark, Jacksonville’s largest locally owned, full-service commercial real estate firm. Since acquiring the firm in 2016, Christian has spearheaded a strategic and cultural transformation that has grown the firm’s size sixfold, broadened its service offerings, and firmly established NAI Hallmark as a market leader across the Southeast. Today, the firm manages over 6 million square feet of office, industrial, and retail space, with more than $2.5 billion in closed transactions in Northeast Florida since 2018.
With nearly two decades of experience in commercial real estate, Christian brings deep expertise across investment sales, leasing, and advisory services. He delivers strategic value to institutional clients, private investors, and Fortune 500 companies by combining analytical clarity with entrepreneurial agility—producing measurable, long-term client success.
Christian is a respected civic leader and advocate for urban development. He currently serves on the Jacksonville Civic Council and the Florida Council of 100, is a past president of NAIOP Northeast Florida, and has previously served on the Downtown Development Review Board (DDRB). Since 2016, Christian has been an active member of the Board of Trustees for Jacksonville’s Museum of Science & History (MOSH), where he has played a pivotal role in launching and leading the MOSH Genesis capital campaign. This initiative aims to fund the development of a new, $120 million museum on the Northbank, slated to open in 2028.
His influence reaches beyond dealmaking—he is actively shaping the conversation around Jacksonville’s future. Christian lives in historic Avondale with his wife, Stephanie, and their three children: Miles, Mackenzie, and Zoey.
Chris Kalin is regional president of PNC Bank in North Florida which encompasses Jacksonville, Gainesville, Daytona Beach and Tallahassee. In this role, he is leading PNC’s corporate banking, retail banking and asset management growth strategy across the region. In addition, Kalin leads all sponsorship and philanthropic efforts to execute PNC’s community-based goals and initiatives.
Kalin is a Jacksonville native with nearly two decades of banking experience. His prior roles have largely involved the growth of new markets, including building teams in Los Angeles and Chicago before returning to Jacksonville. Kalin joined PNC in 2017 and helped lead the corporate banking efforts in North Florida prior to being named regional president in 2022.
Active in the community, Kalin currently serves on the board of directors of the Museum of Science and History, where he is the chair of the Strategic Planning Committee as the museum is undertaking a $150 million capital campaign as it transitions to a new location. He also serves on the executive committee of the JAX Chamber and is a member of the Jacksonville Civic Council where he is involved in the organization’s efforts regarding early childhood education. He is a member of the University of North Florida Coggin College of Business advisory council, YPO Florida and YPO International. In addition, he is a member of the Dreams Come True 40th Anniversary executive cabinet, serves as a Chicago Booth Ambassador, and spends time mentoring students from the University of North Florida, Thrive Scholars and colleagues at PNC Bank.
Recognized as a leader in the Jacksonville community, Kalin was named one of Jacksonville Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 and is a graduate of Leadership Jacksonville and Lifework Leadership. His international volunteer service has taken him to China, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, South Africa and Thailand.
Kalin received a degree in finance from the University of North Florida Coggin College of Business and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Scott Kashman, MHA, FACHE, is the CEO for Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside. Scott brings thirty years of experience in healthcare strategy, hospital operations, ambulatory care and physician partnerships. His leadership focuses on leveraging the team’s skillsets, data analytics and technology to drive innovation and outcomes. He is committed to the health and well-being of each individual as the foundation to building high-performing teams.
He most recently served as Market President & CEO, for St. Dominic Health Services & St. Dominic Hospital, the only Catholic Health system in the state of Mississippi. Prior to St. Dominic’s, he served as the Chief Officer of Hospital Operations for Lee Health in Florida, overseeing their four hospitals and $1.5B in net revenue.
A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Scott began his career in healthcare as a psychiatric counselor. He has a Master of Health Administration from Tulane University. He served as faculty for Tulane’s Health Market Analysis course and co-authored the book, Mindful Healthcare: Healthy Team, Healthy Business. He was one of the chapter authors for the ATD Talent Development and Training in Healthcare Handbook.
Scott and Jenny have three adult children, two in Florida schools and one in New York law school. Scott enjoys running, biking, swimming and time with family and friends.
Eric Mann is a respected nonprofit leader based in Jacksonville, Florida. He served for 14 years as President and CEO of the YMCA of Florida’s First Coast and spent 45 years as part of the YMCA system across the country. During his tenure, membership grew 33% and fundraising by 515%, as the association expanded across Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. Johns counties. Key milestones include the construction of the Winston Family YMCA in Riverside — the First Coast’s largest branch — the renovation of the Johnson Family YMCA, and approximately $90 million in contributions and gifts.
Beyond his professional work, Eric has been active in civic life, serving on the boards of Baptist Medical Center and Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital, and as a Jax Chamber Trustee, among many other community roles. He retired in the summer of 2026 after a remarkable career of service to Northeast Florida and beyond. He is married to Branita Thompson Mann and they have one daughter, Erica.
Josh Martino is President and Legal Counsel for Bono’s Pit Bar-B-Q, Inc. and Willie Jewell’s Old School Bar-B-Q, Inc. which combines his passion for small business, local philanthropic involvement, and the culinary industry. He graduated from Vanderbilt University and earned his J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York. Josh has served on the Board for the Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens and currently sits on the Boards for The Tiger Academy Charter School, Operation New Hope, and is Board Chairman for Feeding Northeast Florida. Josh also serves on the Advisory Board for the Davis College of Business at Jacksonville University, is a member of the UNF Student Affairs Community Council and Taylor Leadership Institute. He has been a member of the Florida Bar Association since 2003. Josh graduated from the Leadership Jacksonville Class of 2015 and was named to the Jacksonville Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 in 2016. He currently resides in Ponte Vedra Beach with his wife, Kirsten, and daughters, Ella, Chase, and Mae and dog Rosie
Donna Orender is a nationally recognized sports executive, entrepreneur, and author based in Jacksonville, Florida. She served as President of the Women’s National Basketball Association, where she elevated the league’s visibility, expanded corporate partnerships, and strengthened its national brand. Prior to the WNBA, she held executive roles with the PGA Tour and built a career in television and sports broadcasting.
Orender is the founder of Generation W, an initiative dedicated to empowering women through connection, inspiration, and leadership development. She also serves as Commissioner of the Upshot League. Through her company Orender Unlimited, she continues to drive leadership development and organizational strategy, inspiring leaders across industries with her message of resilience, innovation, and purposeful leadership.
Bobby Stein is President of The Regency Group, a family holding company. He has founded the successful investment and growth of many businesses in a wide variety of industry sectors including water, sewer and waste management, real estate, oil and gas, mortgage services, highway safety, technology, food services and health care. Mr. Stein is a board member of Kerrco Inc. (Houston based oil and gas company), SDS Restaurant Group (Pizza Hut franchisee), Acme (highway safety business), TL Canon Companies (Applebee’s franchisee), and Welltality (health care solutions provider). Mr. Stein currently serves as Board Chairman of the Better Angels Society (Ken Burns foundation), and as board chairman of Jacksonville Electric Authority Board of Directors. Past gubernatorial appointments include member of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board; former chairman of the Defense Business Board, and ex official member of the Defense Policy Board and Defense Science Board. Mr. Stein served as a member of the United States Naval Academy board of visitors.
Brian E. Wolfburg is a Jacksonville business leader and community advocate who serves as President and CEO of VyStar Credit Union, one of the largest credit unions in the United States. Since joining VyStar in 2017, Wolfburg has led the organization through significant growth and expansion while championing investments in downtown Jacksonville, financial accessibility, and community development initiatives.
Beyond his corporate leadership, Wolfburg is deeply involved in civic and philanthropic efforts across Northeast Florida. He serves on several nonprofit and community boards, including Groundwork Jacksonville, MOSH, and the Jacksonville Civic Council, and has supported initiatives focused on downtown revitalization, veterans programs, education, and economic development. Under his leadership, VyStar has become a major partner in projects aimed at strengthening Jacksonville’s urban core and community engagement.
